PM assures rice quota to AP

The Centre had reduced AP’s quota from 1,76,000 tonnes per month to 1,31,000 tonnes per month resulting in a deficit of 45,000 tonnes. The present cut in quota came at a time when the Congress began to implement the Rs 2-a-kg rice scheme.
However, the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, has assured the Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy, that the Centre will restore the APL (above poverty line) rice quota to the state.
