Astrology becomes popular with professionals
Tuesday, June 3rd, 2008
In spite of exhortations from rationalists that astrology is not a science at all, more and more doctors, scientists and engineers are queuing up to study astrology courses these days. Apart from them, civil servants, lawyers and bankers have also submitted applications for the MA (Astrology) course being offered by Potti Sriramulu Telugu University.
The increasing popularity of Vaasthu and medical astrology has given second thoughts to engineers and doctors. A little bit of astrological know-how and some tidbits on omens and good signs will only help them further their careers in their chosen vocations, these professionals feel. There are advocates who want to know the best days for presenting a case in the court, doctors who practice medical astrology and engineers and architects who want to know more about Vaasthu.
Interestingly, there are more students studying MA (astrology) than any other courses in the university. While there are 334 students studying the mysteries of the zodiac, there are only 104 students studying Telugu. Applications have come in from Kerala, Karnataka and even north Indian states. Apart from the MA course, the university also offers certificate and diploma courses in astrology and Jyothir vaasthu.
