Phase-I of Outer Ring Road to be opened on November 14

The Phase-I of the Outer Ring Road from GachiBowli to Shamshabad will be opened for traffic on November 14 and is expected to provide easy and faster connectivity to the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport.

The remaining four lanes of the Phase-I will be completed by September 2009 and Phase-II ‘A’ of the project, stretching from Narsingi to Pathancheru and from Shamshabad to Pedda Amberpet covering 62-km is likely to be completed by the end of 2010.
Phase-II ‘B’ from Patancheru to Pedda Amberpet via Ghatkesar, Cheriyal, Shamirpet, Medchal and Kandlakoya, a 72-km stretch, is expected to be completed by the end of 2012.

The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority raised a loan of Rs 699 crore from a consortium of banks to fund the Phase-I of the project. The Phase-II ‘A’ project is being carried out on Built, Operate and Transfer (BOT) basis under Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode.
