Who will be the next Megastar?

Yes. The million dollar question is who will be the next Megastar in Tollywood? Of course, there is no strict yardstick to measure who the No 1 actor is. But, by tradition, the actor who gets the highest remuneration and who also has a great fan following is normally referred to as a Megastar. This title was given to Chiranjeevi.

Now that Chiranjeevi joined politics and publicly bid adieu to the film field, the title of Megastar is vacant. The question is who will be qualified to hold that title. Here are some pointers for the next Megastar:

Megastar?

NAGARJUNA made his debut in 1986 with the film Vikram. He has so far acted in more than 70 films and has earned a niche for himself with films like Akhari Poratam, Shiva, Geetanjili, Antham, Criminal, Ninne Pelladutha, Santosham, Annamayya, Sri Ramadasu, Mass and forthcoming King.

Nagarjuna won Filmfare Best Actor Award (Telugu) for Shiva, Nandi Award for Best Actor for Annamayya, National Film Award for Special Jury for Annamayya, Nandi Award for Best Actor for Santosham and Nandi Award for Best Actor for Sri Ramadasu.

Megastar?

VENKATESH made his entry into films in 1986 with Kaliyuga Pandavulu. He has acted in more than 60 films and earned the sobriquet of Victory Venky.

He acted in films like Bharatamlo Arjunudu,Trimurthulu ,Vijetha Vikram,Sreenivasa Kalyanam,Raktha Tilakam, Bobbili Raja, , Coolie No.1, Suyra IPS, Kshana Kshanam, Chanti, Shatruvu, Lakshmi, Adavari Matalaku Ardhalu Verule,Tulasi and the now running Chintakayala Ravi.

Venkatesh won the Nandi Award for Best Actor for Prema, Dharma Chakram, Ganesh, Kalisundam ra and Filmfare Best Actor Award (Telugu) for Prema, Kshana Kshanam, Dharma Chakram, Ganesh.

Megastar?

Pawan Kalyan entered Tollywood in 1996 with Akkada Abbai Ikkada Ammayi.

He has so far acted in 15 films. His Puli is awaited. His films include Tholi Prema,Thammudu, Badri, Khushi, Johnny, Gudumba Shankar and Jalsa.

Pawan has not won any National, Nandi or Filmfare awards.

Megastar?

MAHESH BABU made his debut with Rajakumarudu in 1999. He has so far acted in 15 fims. His film Varudu is on the sets.

His films include Raja Kumarudu( Nandi Award for Best Male Debut), Murari (Special Jury Nandi Award),Takkari Donga(Special Jury Nandi Award ), Nijam( Nandi Award for Best Actor), Okkadu (Filmfare Award for Best Telugu Actor), Arjun (Special Jury Nandi Award ), Athadu (Nandi Award for Best Actor) and Pokiri (Filmfare Award for Best Telugu Actor).

Megastar?

NTR Jr made his entry into films as hero in 2001 with Ninnu Choodalani. He has so far acted in 15 films. His films include Student No 1, Aadi, Allari Ramudu, Andhrawala, Rakhi, Yamadonga and Kantri.

NTR Jr won Special Jury Nandi Award for Aadi and Filmfare Award for Best Telugu Actor for Yamadonga.
