Salman Khan to celebrate Ganesh Chathurdhi

Not many know that the family of Salman Khan celebrate all festivals, that of Muslims, Hindus and Christians. Salman Khan’s father is the well known script writer Salim Khan of the famed Salim-Javed duo. Salim’s first wife was a Maharashtrian hindu named Nadkarni who changed her name as Salma after marriage. After her death, he married yesteryears dancer Helen.
This year too the Khan household will continue with the tradition of bringing a Ganesh idol to their home in Bandra during the Ganesh festival. Salim Khan started the trend of bringing of Ganpati idol home around more than a decade back and since then every single member of the family participates in the celebrations that lasts in their house for a day and a half.
The Ganpati idol is taken on the second day evening for immersion close by to Bandra Bandstand. Last year, Salman had participated in the special pooja at the famous Lalbaugcha Raja Ganesh Mandal, and had also donated an undisclosed amount to the organisation.
