Ranga The Donga Movie Review
The Film
Ranga The Donga is a routine formula film with Rayalseema faction generously thrown in along with the usual mass commercial elements.
The Synopsis
Ranga (Srikanth) is a thief who specialises in robbing only the homes of police officials. He also falls in love with police officer Mangamma (Vimala Raman).
Ranga has a fascination for Rayalaseema factionism, its intigues and fight sequences in films. He is a fan of Jaiprakash Reddy, the villain of faction films.
By a turn of events, Ranga comes face to face with real life faction leader Bhavani Prasad who is his look-alike. Then he encounters Surekha (Ramya Krishna).

Who is Bhavani Prasad? What is the real background of Ranga? In what way Surekha is connected to the unfolding events? Answers to these questions lead to a predictable climax.
The Performances
Srikanth is quite energetic and ebullient. He tries his best to put some life into the characters he played. Vimala Raman has nothing much to do. Ramya Krishna is wasted. Jayaprakash Reddy is his usual self. All others merely go through their motions.
The Techniques
The weakest link of the film is the story with contrived situations and woeful characterisation. The screenplay is bumpy making the narration a bit wearisome. Dialogues lack the spice of expression. Music doesn’t help much. The songs and fights appear to hinder the flow of story-telling. Cinematography and editing do not contribute to smooth narration. Technically and production-wise, the value is average.

The Verdict
One can make a comic satire on factionism or a serious cinema like Rakta Charitra. But, Ranga The Donga is a mockery of factionism and the film has no entertainment values at all.
