Prakash Raj to make a film on plane hijack
based on the hijacking of an Indian Airlines plane to Kandahar in 1999. The film will be a bilingual in Tamil and Telugu and to be directed by Radha Mohan.
The story of “Payanam” is a fictionalised version of the book “Flight into Fear” by Captain Devi Sharan,. The film revolves around a plane that is hijacked within 15 minutes of its take-off from Chennai airport and is forced to land at Tirupati airport.
In addition to producing the film, Prakash Raj will play the role of a bureaucrat from the Prime Minister’s office. A huge set, a replica of the airport at Tirupati, is being set up at Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad, where most of the shooting is expected to take place.
