The Film
Om Shanti is an experimental film with the tag line 5 stories, 5 lives, One Truth. The truth about the film, like too many cooks spoiling the broth, is that the bunch of characters create more confusion than clarity.
The Synopsis
Meghana (Kajal Agarwal) does things differently and has a mentor in Maddy (Madhavan). Anand (Navadeep) is in desperate love with Anjali (Aditi Sharma). Noori’s (Bindu Madhavi) marriage is arranged and she awaits the ceremony. Teja (Nikhil) dreams of becoming a film hero. Noori’s brother is trapped by terrorists to make bombs and blast the city. Finally all their paths cross and all their lives are affected.
The Performances
Madhavan, Navadeep and Nikhil are good in their roles and so are Kajal Agarwal, Aditi Sharma and Bindu Madhavi. All others go through their motions.
The Techniques
The storyline is novel but the on-screen handling makes the film uninteresting. The improperly delineated characters take too much time by way of introduction. The screenplay has its loopholes and the narration has many bumps and slumps. There is no convincing justification for the crossing of the paths of the different characters. Music is average. Cinematography is good.
The Verdict
We can safely await the film when it will be telecast on some TV channel or the other.
