Nandana Sen’s Nude Power in Rang Rasiya

Nandana Sen plays the role of Sugandha, 19th century painter Raja Ravi Varma’s muse in Ketan Mehta’s Rang Rasiya. The film has been widely appreciated at the International Film Festivals of Cannes, London, New York and Florence.

The film has not yet been released in India because of the nude scenes of Nandana Sen and the sensual content of the story. Self styled moral police have even sent death threats to the actress.

However, Nandana, daughter of Nobel Laureate and Bharat Ratna economist Amartya Sen, is not blinking or buckling. She said that nudity in her upcoming film Rang Rasiya means a form of women empowerment. When the body depicted in an objectionable manner, it show degeneration to women. But when it show as an artistic way as shown in the movie Rang Rasiya, it demonstrates women power.
