The Film
Namo Venkatesha is a mainstream family entertainer with enough comedy, good music and faction feuds.
The Synopsis
Venkatramana (Venkatesh) is a ventriloquist and a dovotee of Lord Venkateswara. He is unable to find a suitable girl to marry, but firmly believes that somewhere a dream girl is waiting for him. He goes on a tour of Europe and comes across Pooja (Trisha) who happens to be the niece of Paris Prasad (Brahmanandam) a tourist guide. Venkataramana truly falls in love with her.
At the behest of Prasad, she pretends love with him. Before anything happens to this romantic angle, Pooja is forced to go back to India. She is the daughter of a rich, powerful Rayalaseema factionist and her marriage is fixed against her wishes with Bhadrappa (Subbaraju) son of another fierce factionist Changalraidu (Mukesh Rishi). The rest of the story is how Venkatramana and Prasad deal with the situation to free Pooja from the clutches of factionist fangs.
The Performances
Venkatesh carries his role with consummate ease and his comedy timing along with Brahmanandam is the prime attraction of the film. Ali and MS Narayana and some more laughs. Trisha supplies the glamour quotient. Mukesh Rishi and Jayaprakash Reddy make you feel that they are really faction leaders. All others are quite adequate for their roles.
The Techniques
Though there had been many films where the hero and heroine meet abroad and come back to faction feuds, Srinu Vatla adds new and interesting episodes that are thoroughly witty and humorous. The climax is predictable but the comedy and songs have been paced in a clever manner so that the narration is interesting until the end. Music by Devi Sri Prasad is good. Cinematography by Prasad Murella adds to the richness of presentation.
The Verdict
Namo Venkatesha is a thoroughly enjoyable film and deserves a visit.
