Manasara Movie Review

Manasaara is a romantic love story where a typically timid hero overcomes his own predicaments to win over the heroine in a befitting manner.

The Synopsis

Vikram (Vikram) from Hyderabad goes to Rajapalayam in Kerala along with his parents because his father is transfered there. Rajapalayam is cut off from contemporary social structure and everything there is governed by age-old customs and decided by a Kalaripayattu, an ancient martial art.

Vikram happens to meet Anjali (Sree Divya) and instantly falls in love with her. However, her parents want her to get married to Rajan (George Vincent) who happens to be the brother of her step-mother. Anjali does not want to marry Rajan. The issue goes to the elders council and who should marry Anjali will be decided by the winner in the Kalari contest between Vikram and Rajan. Will the fight takes place or is there a twist?

The Performances

Vikram does well for a new comer. Debutante Sree Vidya has screen presence. George Vincent acquits himself with great vigour. Bhanuchander gives a mature performance. Ramaraju and Annapoorna are convincing. MS Narayana is his usual self. All others are ok.

The Techniques

Though the story is a typical boy-meets-girl romance, the director presents it very well with interesting episodes. The dialogues are meaningful. The screenplay gets the attention of the viewers. Music is good. Cinematography is vibrant and pleasing.

The Verdict

The film is worthy of being watched though there is no need to queue up for tickets at the theatre.
