The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) had issued U/A certificate to the film “Mahatma” which was released on October 9. However, the wall posters and press and TV advertisements of the film are not displaying the certificate.
Acting on a complaint lodged by Vishwa Hindu Parishath activist Hanumantha Rao, the Moghulpura inspector D Raj Kumar registered a case against the film’s producer C R Manohar under section 7 of the Cinematograph Act, 1952.
Since not displaying U/A censor certificate in the publicity materials is against the law and the offence is cognizable, the producer could be arrested.
