Soon after Kareena Kapoor claimed that she walked out of Ram Leela and Sanjay Leela Bhansali stating that he dropped Kareena because she is getting married and unsuitable to play Juliet, the actress signed a film to be produced by Karan Johar of Dharma Productions.
The film, tentatively titled Main Aur Mr Right, will be directed by Karan’s protege Punit Malhotra and Imran Khan plays the male lead. Thus Imran and Kareena come together again after Shakun Batra’s Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu which was also produced by Karan Johar.
Malhotra worked as an assistant director on Karan Johar’s Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham,Nikhil Advani’s Kal Ho Naa Ho, Amol Palekar’s Paheli and Tarun Mansukhani’s Dostana. His debut film film, I Hate Luv Storys (2010), starring Imran Khan and Sonam Kapoor, was produced by Karan on a budget of 25 crores and the film grossed over 60 crores.
