Kalyan Ram Kathi Movie Review

The Film

Kalyan Ram Kathi is the story of how a keen sportsman is compelled to take to arms to settle old feuds.

The Synopsis

Ramakrishna (Kalyan Ram) lives with his brothers, their families and sister Haritha (Saranya Mohan). He is loved by all the members of the big family while he dots on his sister who is prone to play pranks. Ramakrishna is an accomplished football player and he aspires to get selected to play in the Nationals.

Suddenly, Harith goes missing and everyone believes that she has run away with her lover as her marriage with a tycoon’s son is being arranged. Ramakrishna finds her sister being chased by a set of baddies led by Krishna Mohan (Shyam).

What happened to Haritha? Why is a gang of goons after her? What will Ramakrishna do to rescue her sister? Why did have to resort to violence? The answers to these questions form the rest of the story.

The Performances

Kalyan Ram acquits himself well. Saranya Mohan is talented and does justice to her role. Kota Srinivasa Rao excels in his role. Sana Khan is good. Chandramohan and Ahuthi Prasad carry their roles with conviction. Brahmanandam, Ali, Dharmavarapu, Venu Madhav and Raghu Babu carry on as usual. All others are ok.

The Techniques

A regular commercial masala story presented with a twist here and there. The plot peters down to predictability. The screenplay keeps the narration interesting until it is clear what is going to happen in the end. Music has no great tunes. Cinematography is interesting. Audiography is good. Production values are high.

The Verdict

Kathi is a regular mass masali movie and may appeal to the routine Telugu audience and film addicts.
