Court to deliver judgement on Dasavatharam

Kamal Hasan has a knack of his own in inviting controversies with his films. The International Sri Vaishnava Dharma Samrakshanaa Society (SVDSS), represented by its president Swamy Govinda Ramanuja Dasan filed a petition in the Madras High Court, contending that Kamal Hassan’s multi-crore movie Dasavatharam had scenes that offended Hindu sentiments, particulary that of Vaishnavites, worshippers of Lord Vishnu.
The case was based on clippings of the movie shown in a private Tamil television channel. Dasan prayed for deletion of scenes depicting clashes between Vaishnavites and Saivites (those worshipping Lord Shiva) and few other objectionable scenes.
A Vacation Bench, comprising Justice K Venkatraman and M Satyanarayana,of the Madras High Court heard the arguments of the International Sri Vaishnava Dharma Samrakshanaa Society (SVDSS), represented by its president Swamy Govinda Ramanuja Dasan, and the counsel for the producer Oscar V Ravichandran and Director K S Ravikumar.
The Court said that orders would be passed on May 29.
