The Synopsis
Sagar (Sanjay Dutt) is a simpleton living in the Bahamas Islands and undertakes a dangerous assignment because he feels he is responsible for his father’s death. He has a buddy in Aarav (Akshay Kumar) who has a no holds barred attitude to achieve whatever he aims. He also has a love interest in Mona (Lara Dutta).
Unexpectedly, Sameer (Zayed Khan) comes to Bahamas from Bangkok, because he has a problem there with an underworld don Gulshan (Rahul Dev) who also arrives in Bahamas with his gang to finish Sameer.
Sagar has to protect his brother Sameer from the wrath of Gulshan & Co, but before that he has to complete the assignment he accepted.
What is this assignment? How dangerous is it ? Can Sagar save his brother Sameer from Gulshan? Is Aarav really a good friend of Sagar? The answers to these questions lead to a thrilling finish.
The Performances
Sanjay Dutt gives a splendid performance, one of his best. Akshay Kumar is supremely energetic and exciting in the action sequences. Rahul Dev and Zayed Khan are convincing and effective. Kabir Bedi is dignified in his cameo. Lara Dutta is gloriously glamorous and performs well. Katrina Kaif and Kylie Minogue sizzle in their short special appearances.
The Techniques
First time director Anthony D’Souza comes out with an exciting and astonishing film with a superb script, edge-of-the-seat screenplay, crisp and effective presentation and good dialogues. The narration speed is jet-like without even a minute’s dullness.
Technically, no cinema has been made so far in Bollywood like Blue. The cinematography by Laxman Utekar and Peter Zuccarini is unbelievably astounding. Editing and sound design are very good. Music and background score by AR Rahman is of Oscar standards. Lyrics by Abbas Tyrewala and Mayur Puri are meaningful. Action sequences are never before seen in Indian cinemas.
