Aamir’s Taare Zameen Par for Oscars
The much acclaimed film Taare Zameen Par, Aamir Khan’s directorial debut movie, has been selected as India’s official entry to the Oscars this year. Nine films have been shortlisted by Film Federation of India and the Jury headed by Suneel Darshan finally nominated Taare Zameen Par to the Oscars for the best foreign film category to be awarded in February 2009.
Incidentally, Telugu film Gamyam was also in the short-list and the only South Indian entry.
The nine films that had been considered were : Taare Zameen Par (Hindi), Valu (Marathi), Tingya (Marathi), Mumbai Meri Jaan (Hindi), A Wednesday (Hindi), Jodhaa Akbar (Hindi), Rock On! (Hindi), Black and White (Hindi) and Gamyam (Telugu).
When Aamir Khan’s Lagaan went for the Oscars, there were high expectations. Let us see if Aamir will get the coveted Oscar this time.
